VA War Memorial

We made a quick stop at the Virginia War Memorial on our way to the canal. It was a beautiful memorial that displayed all of the names of Virginia citizens who had fought in World War Two, The Korean War, Vietnam, and/or The Persian Gulf War. The names were categorized by war and by county. Counties such as Richmond had a long list of names but some counties such as Virginia Beach did not have as many veterans listed. It was breath-taking to see how many Virginians had lost their lives in while fighting for our country. The three of us stood there, in silence, captivated by the enormity of the list of names on the walls surrounding us.
