Historic Tredegar

We visited The Civil War Center of Historic Tredegar.  There, we learned all about Tredegar Iron works and how they were the third largest iron works in the United States during The Civil War. The factory itself was preserved and is now used as the museum. The buildings were beautiful! The museum displayed all different types of ammunition used during the war. It even had bullets and cannon balls that had been found wrapped up in tree roots from the actual war. That was one of our favorite displays. Once we had finished with the indoor exhibits we went out the back door to visit the bronze Lincoln statue. He is sitting on a bench with his young son, Tad.
